Director, producer and film maker John Bisceglie features Bay Area youth sing, dance, and act in movies.
Several times each year, local director John Bisceglie and his team hold youth movie musical auditions and hundreds of Bay Area youth come out to audition for our colorful and fun feature films. We offer a fun and unique opportunity for kids to appear on camera in a full length movie in a professional movie theater. Regardless of talent, ages or experience, our policy is to cast all youth ages 5-18 who audition.
Cast members record in a pro recording studio to lay down their vocal tracks, then and work on a movie set with a film crew on both location shots and on a green screen movie set, with professional sets, props costumes and wigs. Cast members appear in multiple solo, duet, group and ensemble numbers. Our convenient and exciting ten week program with only one rehearsal per week is offered in San Francisco, San Jose & Morgan Hill.

In 2012, Director and Producer John Bisceglie and his team wrote, directed, and produced an original youth movie musical “Gleeful” (a parody based on the popular TV series Glee,) that featured over one hundred local youth and played for ten weeks at the Cinelux Theatre in Morgan Hill. In 2013, John created and produced “ROAR!” a stylized 1920’s black and white movie musical that played to sellout crowds in the historic Castro Theater in San Francisco. In January and February 2017, John presented “Broadway Movie Musical” at Bay Area Cinemark Century Movie Theaters. Bay Area youth recreated Broadway’s greatest moments on film, performing songs from hit shows like Wicked, Matilda, Hamilton, Something Rotten, School of Rock, Rent, Annie, Newsies, Thirteen, Legally Blonde, Grease, Hairspray, West Side Story, Jersey Boys, Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, Les Miserables and more.
Nils Myers, co-founder of 152 West with his partner Mattie, is looking forward to the collaboration. “It’s really exciting to be doing a third film with John. For me it’s a great creative opportunity, but for most kids it’s a truly once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of something that’s usually just dreamed about, which makes it more exciting and special for me.” Mattie Myers adds, “We’ve seen John draw out amazing performances from his actors, and he’s always pushing the envelope with the creative process of film making. If you want to get into film and television, this is a great opportunity to hone your skills and build your reel. John’s movies are a great place to start.”
Featuring kids on camera of all ages and levels of training, John Bisceglie’s programs offer the full experience to children who desire to star in a film, beginning from the initial youth movie auditions, to the thrill of being cast into a specific role, the responsibility of learning and refining a part, the thrill of performing, and finally, the reward of watching the finished product play in local Bay Area Theaters.
All throughout the process, we will share updates, photos, fun clips, and examples of our young performers shining bright, and our kids will get to see themselves sing, dance, and act on screen.
There are few Bay Area Movie Auditions which allow kids on camera to learn by participating in a hands-on, positive and fun process where they are introduced to the fundamentals of making a movie as a performer. Youth movie auditions can typically be a competitive environment, which can be scary for a young performer. Our programs remove that sense of competition, and replace it with a sense of inclusion, which invites all to participate in a fun and positive atmosphere, which is essential when learning new skills relevant to kids that want to be on camera.
In 2018 John Bisceglie and filmmakers 152 West Productions produced “Shake, Rattle & Roll!”, the ultimate 1950’s & 60’s youth movie musical! The all-singing, all-dancing blast from the past featured a hit parade of doo-wop, pop, and rock ‘n roll favorites. This colorful and high energy feature film celebrates the classic 50’s & 60’s movies, TV shows, commercials and pop culture moments that defined an era.
Whether singing and dancing in a multimedia musical revue, appearing in an original film on the silver screen, or recording a song in a professional sound studio, participants and families enjoy a unique experience with big production value for a limited time commitment.
